Starting in early April members of the CALON project will be conducting their annual spring survey of 60 lakes in northern Alaska. The lakes are located on the North Slope between the Brooks Range and the Arctic Ocean. One team begins their journey at Toolik Field Station and travels northward sampling lakes near Umiat, Inigok, Teshekpuk, and Fish Creek. The other team begins in Barrow and works it way south through Atqasuk and into the Foothills. The trip will take about 3 weeks and combined the teams will have traveled nearly 1500 miles on snow machines pulling their science and camp sleds. Check back in early April for updates and to follow along on the journey.
